Amazon Fire 7 — $40, was $60
If you want what’s arguably the cheapest tablet that’s still worth your money, you want a Fire tablet. The Amazon Fire 7 is the cheapest of Amazon’s cheap tablets. It’s not going to set the world on fire in terms of performance or display quality, but it gives you easy access to tons of apps, you can watch videos and browse the web on it, and — of course — it’s fine for reading books and magazines. It’s not a bad little device to consider getting if you have a Prime account, as it’ll let you take full advantage of your membership benefits. If you can up your budget just a bit, though, then the Fire HD 8 might be a better buy.
Amazon Fire HD 8 — $45, was $90
The Fire HD 8 has its flaws, but at this low Cyber Monday price, it’s hard not to see it as a real bargain (and it’s arguably a better deal than the Fire 7, given its similar cost and much larger markdown). Newly imbued with a USB-C port and a stronger processor, the Fire HD 8 is the best cheap tablet if you want a simple device for web browsing, e-book reading, and watching videos. Just don’t expect much more out of it. The processor won’t hold up to much other than even basic games, performance can be sluggish even during everyday browsing, and it doesn’t have access to the Google Play Store (instead, it uses Amazon’s Appstore). The display isn’t great either, but at least it’s actually an HD screen, unlike that of the Fire 7.
Amazon Fire HD 10 — $75, was $150
If the Fire HD 8 is a little too small, then look to its slightly larger cousin: the Fire HD 10. A 10.1-inch screen means there’s a lot more to see here, and those two extra inches make a noticeable difference in usability. It’s the perfect smart home control center if you use Amazon’s Alexa a lot, and the faster processor should mean it’ll handle games better than its smaller siblings. There’s also a split-screen mode in FireOS now, so you can actually take advantage of the larger display. It’s not going to be the equal of something like an iPad or Galaxy Tab, but if your needs are modest and the lack of Google’s Play Store doesn’t bother you, then this is probably the best of the Cyber Monday tablet deals you can get for less than $100.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 — $180, was $280
If you’re specifically looking for an affordable tablet that can run Android apps (meaning Amazon’s Fire OS is out of the question), you should go for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. This Android-powered tablet features a nice 10.5-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. The device also comes with an 8MP rear camera for taking clear pictures and a 5MP front camera for selfies, video chats, and the like. It comes with internal storage of 64GB, and if that’s not enough for your apps and files, you can expand the tablet’s memory through its microSD card slot. Samsung promises up to 13 hours of usage on a single charge, which should be more than enough to get you through the day.
Apple iPad (2021) — $270, was $329
The iPad is still the king of tablets, and while it’s not one of the brand’s high-end models (or even the newest), the 2021 Apple iPad is the tablet to buy if you don’t want to spend more than $300. This is the last-gen model, sporting a 10.2-inch display with larger bezels than we’d like, but the performance is great, it’s a good size for an everyday tablet, and the price is right. This 9th-gen model saw some nice upgrades from the previous generation, with its base storage being boosted to 64GB and the front-facing camera getting a complete overhaul. If you want an Apple tablet for less than $300, Cyber Monday iPad deals don’t get any better than this.
Apple iPad Mini (2021) — $400, was $499
It’s almost criminal how overlooked the iPad Mini is. Apple’s compact tablet is really a fantastic little device, and the Apple iPad Mini 2021 punches well above its weight in regard to performance. With an 8.3-inch display (a slight but noticeable increase over previous models), it’s big enough for most things you want to do on a tablet, while still being small enough to be easily portable. Its A15 Bionic chipset provides plenty of muscle for running apps and mobile games, and the speakers are also surprisingly good, making this iPad a capable on-the-go multimedia device.
Apple iPad (2022) — $419, was $449
Apple’s standard iPad got a face-lift this year, following the design aesthetic of the newer iPad Air and iPad Pro models. It also got a slightly larger screen (bumped up to 10.9 inches from 10.2 inches), some new color optionss, a much-needed USB-C port, and a powerful A14 Bionic chip. We’d liked to have seen the M1 chipset, but that’d probably increase the price too much and make the iPad Air a bit redundant. If you already have an earlier 10.2-inch iPad, there’s probably no pressing reason to ditch that and upgrade to this one, but if not, then the enhancements of the Apple iPad 10th gen make it definitely worth considering.
Apple iPad Air (2022) — $549, was $599
Apple’s fifth-generation iPad Air holds the top spot in our roundup for the best tablets with the help of its immersive 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, great build quality, and Apple’s superb M1 chip. The tablet has a 12MP camera on the back to take pictures and a 12MP ultrawide camera at the front for video calls. In terms of battery, the 2020 iPad Air can last for up to 10 hours on a single charge, which should be more than enough time for you to find a power source to plug it in. The tablet is compatible with the Magic Keyboard, Smart Keyboard Folio, and second-generation Apple Pencil. It’s powerful enough to pull duty as a lightweight 2-in-1, but there are better Cyber Monday tablet deals if you want something for laptop-like use — so read on.
Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ — $600, was $930
The Microsoft Surface Pro 7+ is a fine tablet, and one that can serve as a handy 2-in-1 laptop with its excellent 12.3-inch PixelSense touchscreen and solid PC hardware. This one’s equipped with an 11th-generation Intel Core i3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD. As a two-in-one device, it quickly transforms into a laptop with the included Type Cover keyboard that also protects the tablet’s display when folded up. The two-in-one device is just 7mm thin, so it’s easy to carry with you when you’re on the go, and Microsoft promises up to 13 hours of battery life on a single charge. The Microsoft Surface Pro 7 also comes with a pair of USB-C ports, so you can connect it to accessories such as displays and docking stations while also charging your other devices.
Apple iPad Pro 11 (2022) — $739, was $799
The new 2022 iPad Pro is an extremely powerful tablet, delivering MacBook-like performance thanks to Apple’s M2 CPU. This is the same chip that’s found in Apple’s latest laptop and desktop computers, so it’s a definite upgrade from the mobile-focused, A-series Bionic processors of previous generations of the tablet. That performance is given justice on the tablet’s 11-inch Liquid Retina display, which works great when you’re editing high-brightness and high-contrast photos and videos. When you’re watching streaming content, the entertainment experience is supported by a quad-speaker audio system. The tablet also features a USB 4 port with Thunderbolt 3 support for compatibility with a wider range of accessories.

In our in-depth review, we stated that the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8+ is the best Android tablet for the money. That should come as no huge surprise, considering that this tablet comes from the top Android smartphone brand. It sports a lovely 12.4-inch display with great speakers, making this a fine tablet for entertainment, but its powerful hardware also makes it a portable powerhouse for work and creativity. It includes the S Pen stylus too, which saves you the additional expense of having to buy it separately, and with 256GB of onboard storage, you’ve got plenty of room for your apps and file library.

Want to go a bit bigger? Perhaps you plan to put your tablet through its paces as a laptop. In that case, it’s worth sizing up to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, which was updated in 2022 alongside the 11-inch model. With the powerful M2 chip and 128GB of storage, you’re good to go for just about any task you’d need to do on a tablet or even a MacBook, while still having all the portability and versatility that you get with a tablet. The 12.9-inch 2732 x 2048 Retina display looks gorgeous no matter what you’re doing, be it work or entertainment, and the M2 chip’s 10 graphical processing cores mean this thing can effortlessly handle mobile games, too. Whatever you need a tablet to do, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro can do it, and then some.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra — $1,100, was $1,400
For an Android tablet that can go toe-to-toe (or even surpass) the iPad Pro, you should look no further than the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. A Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage put many laptops to shame. You can transform it into a 2-in-1 PC via DeX mode, though you’ll need to purchase the optional keyboard if you want to do this. It’s nonetheless an incredibly capable tablet, with a gorgeous (and big!) 14.6-inch OLED display and AKG quad speakers with Dolby Atmos surround sound, making it a great multimedia device for streaming videos and music. The tablet comes with dual 12MP front cameras and a 13MP rear camera, and it’s capable of recording 4K video. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra also comes with the redesigned S Pen, which unlocks more functionality such as drawing and notetaking.
Microsoft Surface Pro 9 — $1,400, was $1,600
The new Surface Pro 9 is here, and Microsoft keeps making its tablet/laptop hybrid better and better. This one doesn’t come with the Type Cover keyboard (you’ll still have to purchase that separately, or score a bundle deal), but with a 12th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU, 16GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD, this Windows-powered tablet is impressive nonetheless. Its 13-inch 2880 x 1920 PixelSense touch display is as gorgeous as ever, as well. If you want a Windows tablet capable of laptop performance, the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 is it, and although it’s a new release, Best Buy’s Cyber Monday tablet deals are already offering a discount right now.
